How to store stained glass? A question for small studios or growing glass artist workspaces, when it comes to storing sheet glass, it's important to remember that one size doesn't fit all. In regards to buying storage racks, the kind of glass rack you choose depends on how big and heavy your glass sheets are. For example, if you have really large and heavy glass panels, you'll need a storage rack that can handle that weight.

Another thing to think about when buying a glass storage rack is how many glass sheets you have. If you only have a few, a smaller rack might work just fine. But if you have a bunch of sheets, you'll need a bigger rack to hold them all.
The size, weight, and number of glass sheets you have will help you figure out the right storage rack for your glass. Once you've thought about these things, you can narrow down your options and find the perfect rack for your sheets.
Now, let's talk about some important tips for glass storage. First, always keep your sheet glass in a dry and well-ventilated area. Second, make sure you don't store it near anything flammable. And finally, double-check that the rack you buy can handle the weight of your glass sheets.

3. Wood glue
4. Hammer and Drill, and a ¼ inch drill bit
Referencing the picture above:
1. Drill 1/4″ holes all the way through the board 2 to 3 inches apart
2. Cut the dowels into 7 or 8 inch lengths
3. Put glue on the end of each dowel that is to be placed into the drill hole
4. Tap the dowel into the hole and repeat
5. put a dab of wood glue on the end of each 7″ dowel and tap into the holes with the hammer
6. Let your glue dry overnight
7. Project completed
For multiple shelves, follow the same instructions as above but before you do, take note of this before drilling:
1. When drilling for multiple shelves, stack your 4’ x 12’ boards on top of one another and make sure they are aligned.
2. Drill your holes through two or three boards at once so that all holes match up.
3. If more boards are needed, repeat the process while using a board with holes already drilled as your guide for drilling another set of boards.
4. Use the same process when inserting the dowels
5. Clearance: When connecting your shelves atop of one another, be sure to have a clearance space of 13 inches or more.
6. Secure the side boards with 4′ x 12″ x 1″ wood and use heavy duty “L” brackets to secure the side boards and shelves to support the weight of your glass.
